Without a question, one of the best parts of playing Pokemon Legends Z-A is the Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokemon boss battles. Although not new, the excitement of playing Pokemon like Elden Ring is always a welcome feeling. It makes us sweat. and it makes us think of what to do next.
Yes, it is indeed a delight to have engage in these battles, even if they seem to be a bit difficult. We're looking at you, Mega Barbaracle. But worry not, in this guide, I will share what I have learned winning these battles to make them a bit easier.

Needless to say, smart play is the best way of defeating these Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon and this includes managing your resources, healing your Pokemon at the right time, and skillful dodging. Said boss battles can be quite spongy and jittery but it doesn't have to be that way.
Do not sleep on movement reading, mega evolving your own Pokemon, nor retreating at the perfect moment. Seems simple and subtle but they really made the fights much easier and more manageable. Want to learn more and be a Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon master? Keep reading.
Brains Before Brawn

This should go without saying but one of the most common mistakes Pokemon players do in these battles is charging at the boss, guns akimbo, without strategizing and watching first. Each of these Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon have their own, unique movements and attacks so observing first may not be a bad idea.
The warzone is huge and you should use this area to circle the first 1 to 2 minutes of the battle to circle the enemy just to study its behaviors. Once you get the beat, then that's the time to start striking, hopefully with super effective moves. Mastering this tip will make you feel like you can predict the future and is very satisfying.
Running Is Better Than Rolling

Admittedly, the rolling to dodge looks cooler than just running but the efficiency comparison couldn't be farther from the truth. Rolling can make the camera move so fast that you can lose your tempo, ruin your positioning, and direction-less spamming.
With running, you have a better hold of your positioning and view. It also has a consistent dodging speed so your momentum is at a slower, but steadier pace and we can't stress enough how essential momentum is during these battles.
Time Your Mega Evolution

If you think Mega Evolving is purely offense, in Pokemon Legends Z-A, it isn't. We can't help but notice that the Mega Evolution animation for your own Pokemon grants a brief duration of invincibility to both you and your sent-out Pokemon. So if you Mega Evolve your Pokemon at the right time, you'll last longer in these battles.
The perfect time to use this is when the boss Pokemon is about to unleash one of its strong moves or when it is about to use its unique AOE move that can be quite devastating. Visually pleasing and serves a purpose? Yes please!
See Those C Plus Moves? Use Them

If you're worried that your Pokemon that can't Mega Evolve will be sitting ducks during these boss battles, don't be. Because even your non-Mega Evolving favorites can join and still be helpful. In case you don't know, pressing on the plus button of your right joycon actually activates the C Plus Moves of your Pokemon's moves, which boosts that moves' damage.
This is effective in enhancing your moves in normal battles but using these to Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon deals even more pain and make the fight easier. Just don't forget to pick up those Mega Essence to recharge the Mega meter.
No Shame In Retreating

Want a commonly-forgotten tip? Retreat. Simply retreat your Pokemon. This is what sets veteran Trainers from reckless ones apart. There are instances where Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon unleash a massive, super powerful moves that can be impossible to dodge.
So the best thing to do in these moments is to retreat your Pokemon and once the opposing boss Pokemon is done throwing a fit, continue chipping off damage. Like the title, there's no shame in retreating, and retreating sometimes bring victory.

We can't be more glad that these exhilarating battles were added to this title. Your tactical prowess, patience, and reflexes are put to the test and Pokemon battles aren't boring anymore. For Pokemon titles, that is quite special.
So if you are in a sitch where you can't seem to defeat the Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon boss, don't forget to use these tips and see how much it makes your battle easier. You know what they say in Lumiose, fight smarter, not harder. Also, don't forget to take advantage of the free Mega Stone for winning each of these battles.
